I am finding juggling my research project (dissertation), my FMP, making a professional network, whilst keeping and maintaining an updated blog.. quite a challenge.
I know that once I get a head start and quite a way into one project/piece of work I lose track of the rest of what needs to be done. So trying to find a balance isn't very easy. Especially with only a couple of months left of the degree, however I am positive that I will manage.
My dissertation is about How Humans Interact with the Landscape in Respect to Leisure
(2010-2019). A detailed look at leisure time within Yorkshire.
This research initially began for me when I started my Ever Fallen In Love brief back at the start of the year, being influenced by Martin Parr (no surprise) and Simon Roberts. Martin Parr is someone whose work I had admired for years, around the time of starting A levels. However Simon Roberts is someone I have only discovered in the last year or so and his work, in my opinion, is like nothing id seen before and I fully appreciate visually/aesthetically, in terms of composition and thought process.
With the intention for my work to go in the direction of Britishness and how this is portrayed through photography, I knew Parr & Roberts (as well as others) were strong characters for inspiration. Britishness is something I intend to continue researching and explore further even after I finish my degree, which is why I believe it led me to the choosing of my dissertation topic.
I am not as far into the most important piece of writing I've had to do (yet) as I would of liked to be. But I am making progress.
