Jane.

During January we put together an exhibition at Yorkshire House on Greek Street in Leeds.

The exhibition was to display the work of our current brief, Prototype, in which we were tasked with creating a piece of work which fits with the kind we are producing or wish to produce.

The task I set myself for this brief was to explore the life of my Mum. I looked at how the use of old and new photographs of my mum change my perception of her as an individual.

Family photos/snapshots are extremely important, not only to myself, but my mum and other members of my family. I was inspired to create this project when I was looking through old photo albums and an old wicker basket my mum stores away in her cupboard filled with many other old photographs. This basket consists of photos from before I was born, mostly photos of my mum in her younger years and along side my dad in many.

I chose 15 images of which were a combination of old and new images and I presented my work on a piece of paper which came to the size 10" x 90". The images were placed thoughtfully as if to represent the pages of a book as my initial intention for the exhibition was to create a book as more of a personal touch.
